The Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman announced the continuation of construction work in Al Ittihad Street development project, whose completion rate has recorded 10% since it kicked off last July2022
The project will include the construction of a bridge on al-Ittihad Street consisting of three lanes for vehicles coming from the Emirate of Dubai towards Sheikh Khalifa Intersection with installing of a traffic light at the intersection of al-Ittihad and Kuwait Streets under the bridges, in addition to constructing a bridge for those coming from Al Hassan Bin Al Haitham Street leaving Ajman from Ajman Industrial Area towards the Emirate of Sharjah in line with the strategic goal of developing an integrated infrastructure and strengthening the interconnection between the elements of infrastructure and residential communities.
The Department stated that the alternative traffic diversion from al-Ittihad Street contributed to the flow of traffic and avoided congestion and traffic jams, calling on residents and visitors of the Emirate to follow the directional signs, and use traffic diversion that was designed according to the highest standards of international specifications and requirements of traffic volumes to achieve traffic safety which do not contradict with implementation work of the project, and to achieve high operating efficiency where the traffic diversion includes five lanes coming from the Emirate of Sharjah towards Sheikh Khalifa Intersection in addition to two lanes towards Al Nuaimiya area.
In a related context, His Excellency Abdul Rahman Muhammad Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Municipality and Planning Department, inspected the progress achieved in al-Ittihad Street development project, which will be fully completed in October 2023, stating that “the project falls within the second package of the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, to develop the infrastructure in the Emirate”.
His Excellency said that “the wise leadership has paid remarkable attention to the vital street, which witnesses constant traffic movement since it is a juncture that links Emirate’s different areas as well as links Ajman with other Emirates”.
“Accordingly, the project, with a cost of 71 million and 600,000 dirhams, aims to provide the required expansion in line with the volume of use. Qualified competencies have worked to investigate the current situation on the street and defined all the necessary requirements to reach the stage of preparing designs for the project which ensures the provision of a better level of service for road users” His Excellency added.
His Excellency listened to a detailed explanation by Engineer Abdullah Mustafa Al Marzouqi on the project and its objectives, indicating that “the project will include providing entrances on both sides of the road to achieve traffic safety requirements in addition to providing a rainwater drainage network, and regulating infrastructure services in the project area”.
Al-Marzouqi talked about “the expansion of the project, which covers the borders of the Emirate of Ajman at the Wasit station and up to the intersection of the Sheikh Khalifa Bridge”, indicating that “the project contributes to serving the infrastructure projects implemented in the Emirate, including the development of the Nuaimiya area, and improving the entrances to the Emirate being developed in the Al-Tilla area on Sheikh Mohammed Street Bin Zayed, and the project serves the future development of al- Ittihad Street”.
