The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) has signed a contract awarding the Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Corridor Improvement Project – Phase 1 with Al-Darwish Engineering Emirates, at a cost of 69 million dirhams, aimed to construct a 500-meter-long bridge of 3 lanes for those coming from Ajman Port and the city center towards Sheikh Khalifa Intersection, in line with the strategic goal of developing an integrated infrastructure and enhancing interconnection among its components and residential communities.

The contract was signed by His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Nuaimi, Director General of the MPDA, Mr. Bahaa Al Nahwi, Director General of Al-Darwish Engineering, and a number of officials, the project work team, experts and specialists.

His Excellency Al Nuaimi noted that the project falls within the updated strategic plan for the infrastructure in the Emirate, which primarily seeks to have a system developed and designed under the highest international standards. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Corridor is one of the most important corridors in the Emirate, which eyes traffic around the clock, and therefore the MPDA decided to develop it to ensure traffic flow, raise the level of service, and ensure faster, safe and optimal access to the required destinations, His Excellency added.

His Excellency said that the improvement project includes the completion of lighting works, the rainwater drainage network, and the implementation of a rainwater pumping station, including all civil and electromechanical works, as part of the efforts made to enhance full preparedness to handle emergency and exceptional situations.

The project includes the implementation of service roads, modifying parking lots on both sides of the road, and creating a signalized intersection with free turning slots under the bridges, His Excellency said, explaining that the MPDA’s ambitious competencies never stop striving for continuous improvement and providing all the elements of well-being for the residents and ensuring life quality and society happiness.

His Excellency said that the Emirate of Ajman has become one of the most important pioneering cities in the field of integrated development and advanced, comprehensive modern architecture geared towards providing a comfortable livelihood for the community, and attracting visitors, tourists and investors.

It is worth noting that work on the improvement project is taking 14 months to increase the Corridor’s capacity and enhance connectivity axes with existing and future development projects.
