MPDA, ICBA sign MoU to enhance biosaline agriculture and climate change cooperation

The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) to enhance joint cooperation in the field of biosaline agriculture and climate change.

 

The MoU was signed by the MPDA’s Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector, Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, and ICBA’s Director General, His Excellency Dr. Tarifa Al Zaabi, in the presence of a number of officials from both parties.

 

In this connection, Eng. Khalid Moeen stressed that the MPDA seeks to consolidate joint coordination with all leading entities in the agricultural field, in line with the directions geared towards increasing green spaces and launching qualitative projects to address the climate change challenges, and in commitment to the principles of sustainability in various fields.

 

For her part, Her Excellency Dr. Tarifa Al Zaabi said: “Signing the MoU with the MPDA allows us to deepen our joint efforts in developing sustainable agriculture and enhancing resilience to climate change. This MoU is of particular importance as it plays great part in applying best practices in salinity management and sustainable use of resources, which directly helps develop the agricultural and environmental sectors in the Emirate of Ajman. Through this partnership, we seek to promote a model of cooperation that addresses current challenges and supports long-term sustainability and innovation in the region.”

 

The MoU includes an agreement between the two parties to exchange best practices in the field of biosaline agriculture and sustainability, launch vital initiatives, and take part in seminars and conferences in the field of work of the two parties to achieve the best results.
