The Science Al Ezz Avenue PArk, and Al Raqayeb Forest Park in the Emirate of Ajman won the World Green Flag Award 2023, as a culmination of the efforts of the Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) in applying the best international practices in the greenery field.
In this vein, Mr. Ahmed Saif Al Muhairi, Director of MPDA’s Department of Agriculture and Public Parks, asserted that the achievement comes as an extension of the efforts made to rehabilitate and classify Ajman’s facilities among international facilities, with the MPDA’s keenness to expand the scope of parks participating in this year’s award, so that these parks are in accordance with the award’s standards.
The ambitious cadres are working to improve the Emirate’s parks to be places open for visitors and preserve the environment and heritage, and a healthy and safe place, and to maintain community participation, in a way that contributes to achieving the Emirate’s vision to provide a sustainable environment and a modern structure to build the future of Ajman and in harmony with national indicators and to ensure the quality of life and community happiness, Al Muhairi said.
Al Muhairi added that the MPDA participated in this year’s award through two parks that meet all the requirements and standards of the award geared towards encouraging the creation of high-quality public parks and gardens, subject to management considering the sustainable environment and the quality of the parks.The Green Flag Award program was designed to improve the level of standards in all parks and greeneries, in a manner that contribute to enhancing people’s confidence in parks.
The management always strives to ensure comprehensive sustainability, and has prepared an integrated plan consistent with the goals of COP28, which seeks to protect the environment and natural resources, increase the green area, confront all challenges, and find feasible solutions for a better tomorrow and a more beautiful future.
It is worth mentioning that the award represents the global accreditation granted to public parks and open spaces, in order to enhance specialized management and apply the best standards in the greenery field and recreational spaces throughout the United Kingdom and around the globe.
