The Rashid bin Humaid Ramadan Majlis wrapped up its various sessions with a sports evening that eyed the presence and participation of His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA), along with experienced sports officials, club presidents, and media professionals.
Kicking the evening, moderated by Anchor Mishaal Al Qahtani, His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi welcomed the attendees, emphasizing that the UAE’s sports sector boasts many prominent figures who make great efforts to develop future plans in the sports sector and raise the UAE’s flag in all international sporting events.
His Excellency praised the efforts of the Football Association, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, and his continuous supervision and supportive guidance. The national team has many capabilities and technical stability, thanks to the support and care provided by the wise leadership to the sports sector, His Excellency noted, adding that it has contributed to the team’s preparation for important matches and their continued pursuit of success in the World Cup qualifiers.
Sheikh Rashid touched upon several important sports issues related to the sector; the history of the national team’s technical coach, the file of professional players, the duties of the technical staff, the readiness of local players, and the role of the Professional League. His Excellency called for full focus, increased preparation, a review of technical reports, and a discussion of various viewpoints to serve the national team’s best results.
“We place confidence in the national team members and their technical level, and we hope they will go on their journey, representing the nation, and achieving success in the World Cup qualifiers, whether in today’s match against Iran or the upcoming match on March 25 against North Korea. I wish our national team all the best and good wishes against these teams.” His Excellency emphasized the importance of mental and physical preparation for the national team and supporting it in all upcoming matches.
His Excellency said that continuous improvement and the desired development come through concerted efforts, unified goals, and innovative ideas. Responsibility is shared by the clubs and the national team management to search for young national cadres, with the goal of achieving mutual benefits that meet the expectations of the fans. This stems from everyone’s belief in the importance and magnitude of the responsibility placed on their shoulders to represent the nation in the best possible way and express their belonging and pride in it.
Sheikh Rashid said that the UAE has the second-strongest league in the Arabian Gulf region, as determined by its level of performance and official results. He noted the importance of improving the regulations that support the UAE League and exploring positive opportunities to achieve the desired results.
The vision of the wise leadership contributed to supporting experiences and achieving accomplishments at the Paris Olympic Games, according to well-thought-out plans and methodology, implemented gradually to ensure maximum benefit, His Excellency emphasized.
He also addressed the pioneering sports experiences across several continents and the new tournaments announced by FIFA, including the FIFA Club World Cup and the African Super League, from which lessons can be extraxted to promote and develop sports in the region.
His Excellency Khalfan Juma Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, praised the Rashid bin Humaid Ramadan Majlis and its various sessions and initiatives, highlighting the developmental ideas to attract more fans to the UAE league and improve the local club ecosystem.
His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, called for a national project to advance the UAE’s sports sector, address challenges facing the sector, provide training centres for national teams, and maximize the role of expertise in the sector to raise the UAE’s flag in all international sporting events.
Media Figure Rashid Al Zaabi spoke about investing in youth and the modern pursuit of new talent in various sport in a modern way, especially with the support of sports officials to harness these talents through sound planning under a unified sports umbrella.
Participants presented a number of proposals and ideas for developing sports in the UAE noting numerous opportunities and ongoing support for effective competition and achieving success in various sports.
