H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al-Nuaimi, the Chairman of Ajman Municipality & Planning Department, inspected work progress at Ajman Corniche Development Project, which aims to enhance the aesthetic value of the present beach, provide a suitable coastal defense, and expand greeneries in one of Ajman’s most significant outdoor recreations.
This took place during a field visit of His Highness to the project site, accompanied with Eng. Khalid Moeen Al-Hosani, the Executive Director of the Public Health & Environment Sector, and Dr. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al-Muhairi, the Executive Director of the Department’s Infrastructure Development Sector, and a number of officials.
His Highness appreciated the efforts of the project’s work team, which is working intensively for the completion of such project and the attainment of the desired objectives from the commissioning thereof, to enhance its attraction of tourism and investment, providing the elements of welfare and happiness to its visitors and providing various facilities for meeting the needs of all categories, in the course of the intensive efforts for ensuring the quality of life and the happiness of society.”
His Highness followed-up work developments of the first stage, which include the demolition of the present marine structures, as well as the partial demolition of the rock protection edge of the current reclaimed land, the construction of the southern, midfield and northern rock wave barriers and the bottom barrier, and dredging sands around 3 km apart from the beach for the feeding and expansion of the coast area, while He directed work teams to keep working on the project, which is anticipated to be fully completed within 12 months, to provide a new greenery of an area of around 300,000 square meters. Furthermore, the new coastal upfront expansion will extend to around 150 meters towards the sea.
From her side, Dr. Eng. Aliaa Mijlad Al-Shamsi, the Head of the Corniche Development Project Team, gave a detailed explanation to His Highness on the project, work stages, and desired objectives, whilst stating that: “Work is going on in line with an integrated plan that has been prepared for the development, in consistency with the vision of Ajman Emirate, aiming for sustainable improvement and the promotion of its significant natural landmarks to become an attraction for economy, investment, tourism, happiness, and ideal living.”
