The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Cyprus Institute to consolidate joint cooperation and mutual coordination in the fields of sustainability and clean energy.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, the MPDA’s Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector, and Professor Jean Sciari, the Institute’s Director, in the presence of a myriad of officials from both parties.
In this connection, Eng. Khalid Moeen stressed that the MoU is in line with the MPDA’s vision and strategic directions, stressing the desire of both parties to support and enhance the existing cooperation between them, in the belief in their role in achieving the goals of the wise directions of the State in general and the Emirate of Ajman in particular in the areas that concern both parties, and the role of each party and their contribution in scientific studies and research related to air quality, emissions, clean energy and carbon neutrality.
For his part, Professor Jean Sciari noted that The Cyprus Institute and the MPDA share common goals in terms of conducting scientific research and studies based on scientific facts and innovation in the fields of sustainability and the environment, Climate and atmosphere research, focusing on addressing the challenges and impacts of climate change and air pollution.
The MoU includes the two sides’ engagement and effective cooperation in implementing joint initiatives, establishing projects and programs within the Emirate of Ajman that enhance air quality in the context of sustainable development, exchanging fruitful experiences and expertise in implementing air quality strategies and projects, and organizing joint workshops, seminars, conferences and events to enhance and exchange ideas on air quality and carbon neutrality, in addition to taking part in various activities held by any party.
The MoU includes provisions to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise between the two parties, and discuss opportunities to launch joint research and development projects in the field of carbon neutrality and innovation, which contribute to preserving and sustaining the environment.
