The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) received a delegation from the clients of Singapore’s Hikvision to learn about the best global practices in vital fields.
The visiting delegation was received by Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector, Dr. Eng. Mohammad Ahmad bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector, Mr. Yousef Mohammad Al Shaiba, Advisor to the MPDA’s Chairman for Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence, Hind Al Shamsi, Director of the Smart Services Development Department, Humaid Al Falasi, Director of the Paid Parking Department, and the work teams concerned with employing artificial intelligence and modern technologies in the work sectors.
Smart Transformation Journey
Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani  explained that the MPDA has made great strides in the smart transformation journey, and has been able to achieve positive results in the qualitative field, based on ambitious competencies, which have developed a holistic and integrated plan to transform services and apps from the traditional form to the smart model that is accessible by the customer anywhere and anytime and makes them a basic pillar and a major partner in the development and improvement desired.
Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmad bin Omair Al Muhairi noted that the MPDA has managed to effectively employ artificial intelligence technologies in developing the infrastructure, especially in monitoring and maintaining roads and public facilities, which played great part in raising the efficiency of operations and providing integrated services that satisfy the needs of society and enhance life quality in the Emirate. Using smart systems has helped with earlier detection of problems and taking the necessary measures before any malfunctions occurred, improving safety and reducing operational costs. The MPDA always seeks to enhance its infrastructure through innovation and cooperation with global partners to ensure that pioneering and sustainable services are provided, he added.
Exchange of Experiences
Advisor Yousef Al Shaiba said that Singapore has managed to secure a leading position on the smart cities map, and the Emirate of Ajman is an ideal leading smart city model in various fields, noting that the meeting is geared towards framing aspects of cooperation between the two parties to find solutions to common issues and challenges, and continue the process of developing solutions capable of transforming the field of smart city development worldwide. The MPDA seeks to build bridges of joint work and enhance future cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence in the health and environment sectors, infrastructure development, ensuring life quality and society happiness, and providing smart, advanced, efficient and high-quality services, to achieve the best, he added.
Smart Parking System
For her part, Hind Al Shamsi provided a detailed explanation to the Singaporean company’s delegation about the smart parking system and the transformation journey that it has eyed to reach a system that aims to transform traditional parking spaces into smart parking spaces within the State’s leading strategies and government directives in moving towards smart cities. The project relies on harnessing time-saving-and-effort modern technologies, and is characterized by the ease of procedures followed, she said.
Al Shamsi added that the MPDA has employed fixed cameras and vehicles equipped with smart cameras in paid parking lots in the Emirate to help manage parking spaces efficiently and complete all related operations within seconds, to manage parking spaces efficiently and effectively by relying on smart virtual systems and the automation system for parking operations.
Documenting Cooperation
The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation and coordination between the two parties in all fields and sectors.
The visiting delegation appreciated the MPDA’s keenness to present bright experiences, introduce the practices followed, and open up horizons for joint coordination in the interest of both parties.
