As part of the Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA)’s activities to celebrate the Afforestation Week, His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, the MPDA’s Director General, inspected the progress of work on Al Helio Park Project, built on an area of 60 thousand square meters and at a cost of 9 million dirhams.
In this connection, His Excellency confirmed that the ambitious competencies of the Department of Agriculture and Public Parks completed the Project’s phase one, and work is underway in phase two. The MPDA’s plans and directions are in line with the State’s plans and strategy, His Excellency noted, stressing the MPDA’s endeavor to continue the sustainability journey in its second year running, and to enhance sustainability of the vital sector represented by agriculture through adopting projects geared towards increasing the green area and constant attention to creating natural outlets for residents and visitors.
His Excellency added that the green areas in the Emirate of Ajman totaled up 2,265,285 square meters at the end of 2023, within the framework of non-stopping efforts and ambitious plans to carry out integrated and comprehensive projects covering all Ajmani regions. Ajman has now become among the ranks of green cities that take agriculture as an approach of work and life and efforts do not stop to ensure life quality and society happiness, His Excellency noted.
His Excellency said that Al Helio region is a very vital area inhabited by residents and frequented by visitors around the clock. Therefore, the MPDA decided to carry out the Project in the vibrant area to provide a natural outlet for everyone on its soil, and to encourage the holding of community events and activities in places where all luxury constituents are available, as the Park has a main area for holding celebrations, with an area estimated at 6,000 square metres.
For his part, Ahmad Saif Al Muhairi, Director of the MPDA’s Department of Agriculture and Public Parks, said that the Project brought up to the surface after the field community meeting held by the MPDA with the residents of Al Helio, where they were informed of and engaged in the design of the Park, taking into account all their observations and sectoral requirements, which will include a 1,200-meter long walkway, a 2800-square meter games and investment activities area, a health services building, and a free children’s play area. Learning about the population’s needs and requirements is one of our most important goals, and so the Park provides 304 parking lots, with special ones for the elderly and people of determination, and walkways, internal roads, and seating areas, Al Muhairi added.
Al Muhairi went on saying that the MPDA seeks to enhance sustainability in its various projects, and therefore the Park’s location has been chosen amid residential neighborhoods and next to special services for citizens, including a mosque and a seating area to serve the people of the area. The MPDA is keen on the perfect use of resources, and therefore the Park’s irrigation system is automatic with smart control and monitoring technology using treated water, Al Muhairi added, noting that work will be underway to fully complete the Project to be a new family destination for all.
