Ajman Municipality Department Undertakes a Total Campaign for the Backfilling of Deserted and Random Wells in the Emirate

 

The Municipality & Planning Department – Ajman undertook a total campaign for the backfilling of random and deserted wells in the Emirate, in the course of its care for the safety of the members of the society.

 

In this regard, H.E. Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, the Director-General of the Municipality & Planning Department – Ajman, confirmed that the Department considers the safety of citizens, residents and visitors to be its top priority, and it aims relentlessly and with reliance on its competent human personnel to face any phenomenon that would compromise the safety of individuals and expose their lives to danger.

 

His Excellency continued: “The Department has assigned the tasks of the identification and assessment of wells to qualified and specialized competent human personnel, and its field teams have also undertaken the direct handling of violating cases and the field inspection of the sites of deserted wells and backfilling the same immediately.”

 

His Excellency continued: “The Department is fully committed to the implementation of the Emiri Decree passed by H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Ajman (May Allah Protect Him), for the regulation of the digging of wells and the utilization of groundwater.” He stated that Decree No. 4 of 2009 consists of 24 articles, including Article 5, which prohibits undertaking activities in relation to groundwater wells without a license as from the effectiveness date of the Decree, and which states that nobody may perform one or more of digging activities without obtaining a license for the concerned activity as issued by the competent department.

 

His Excellency said: “The Department has set clear and specified stipulations for the digging of wells, and is also working on a periodic basis on the preparation of an exhaustive list of such wells and ensuring their compliance with circulars and regulations. The protection of children lives is a joint duty and responsibility and no tolerance should be exercised whenever there is a random well and the Department should be quickly informed of such for the implementation of the applicable procedures.”

 

Al Manama Backfills Random Wells

From its side, Al Manama Municipality Department undertook the campaign for “the backfilling of deserted wells” at Al Manama area, as the Department formed a special team for the preparation of an exhaustive list of wells and for backfilling and leveling the same in the area, to protect against the danger of falling into such wells and to protect against the death of stray animals.

 

The Director of Al Manama Municipality Department, Mr. Salem Abdullah bin Ghelaita, appealed to the entire population to contact the Municipality in the case of finding a location of any deserted or random wells and to urgently call the free number 80070 or 067012671, so that the Municipality can undertake the necessary actions of backfilling and leveling.

 

The Protection of the Safety of Everybody

From its side, Masfoot Municipality Department organized an intensive campaign for the identification of wells in the area, in order to begin the backfilling of deserted and random wells, as Mr. Saif Ghadeer Al Ketbi, the Director of Masfoot Municipality Department, confirmed that the Department has commenced the campaign on the 2nd of this February in order to verify that the wells meet the issued conditions, permits and circulars.

 

The Department called the members of the society in the city of Ajman and Masfoot and Al Manama areas to cooperate with the Department and to immediately report any deserted and random wells that are found to exist.
