The Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman has announced the commencement of registration for the 16th edition of the “Ajman Agriculture Award 2025” from January 07 to January 20, 2025. The award is one of the pioneering initiatives aimed at promoting innovation and sustainability in the agricultural sector of the Emirate of Ajman. The department remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the health of citizens and residents, preserving the environment and its resources, enhancing water and air quality, and increasing green spaces within the Emirate of Ajman.
Mr. Ahmed Saif Al Muhairi, the MPDA’s Director of the Agriculture and Public Parks Department, and Chairman of the Award Committee, highlighted that the award constitutes a pivotal initiative to inspire both individuals and institutions to adopt cutting-edge agricultural practices that contribute to sustainable development. It also seeks to instill awareness about the critical role of the agricultural sector in elevating quality of life and achieving self-sufficiency while encouraging the community to expand green spaces and embrace innovative agricultural solutions that address future demands.
Mr. Al Muhairi further stated that the award exemplifies the department’s vision of fostering collaboration between community members and various institutions to accomplish qualitative accomplishments that support the environment and align with the Ajman Green Vision. He also highlighted the importance of sharing agricultural expertise and showcasing exemplary successful models that strengthen the principles of sustainability within the emirate.
Award Objectives and Categories
The award aspires to foster innovation in agricultural technologies and the sustainable utilization of natural resources, in addition to honoring projects that contribute to the development of the agricultural sector. It includes 9 categories: indoor home gardens, outdoor home gardens, productive home gardens, government institutions, mosques, school gardens, balconies, hotels, as well as individuals with outstanding agricultural initiatives that enhance productivity and achieve sustainability.
Participation Criteria and Requirements
To participate, applicants must submit documents proving ownership of the participating land or house, along with photographs of the garden prior to evaluation. Participants must also specify the exact location and ensure their present (or represented) during the morning evaluation. Furthermore, gardens must include at least six agricultural varieties with sufficient production to meet self-sufficiency needs. Applicants who have won the award within the past three years are not eligible to apply.
Registration Process and Award Value
