In pursuit of its ambitious vision for 2030, the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department has signed a memorandum of understanding with the KSA-based Arab Urban Development Institute. The MOU seeks to advance sustainable urban development within the region and to devise innovative solutions that enhance the wellbeing in Arab cities.
The MOU was signed at Ajman Municipality and Planning Department’s headquarters, with H.E. Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Department, signing on its behalf, while H.E. Dr. Anas Al-Mughairy, Director General of the Institute, represented the Institute. The signing ceremony was attended by several senior officials from both organizations.
H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi stressed that this MOU marks a significant milestone in bolstering regional cooperation in urban planning. He noted that the agreement is expected to enhance service quality and improve human resource efficiency, aligning with Ajman Vision 2030. He also indicated that these efforts are anticipated to increase the efficiency of development projects by over 20% in the forthcoming years.
“This partnership with the Arab Urban Development Institute will establish a unified framework for the exchange of experiences and knowledge, the execution of advanced training programs, and the promotion of scientific research aligned with global advancements, which will support the development of sustainable cities that are equipped to tackle future challenges,” Al Nuaimi added.
For his part, H.E. Dr. Anas Al-Mughairy emphasized the significance of strategic partnerships with governmental entities for the Arab Urvan Development Institute, highlighting that this agreement underscores the Institute’s dedication to fostering innovation and progress in urban development. He stated, “Through this MOU, we anticipate organizing training workshops that will enhance the skills of local personnel and facilitate research projects aimed at improving urban living conditions.”
Al-Mughairy further underscored the agreement’s importance, expressing, “By 2030, we envision this partnership serving as a model for achieving sustainability and formulating urban policies that align with the aspirations of Arab cities.”
The agreement includes the implementation of specialized training programs, the exchange of research and studies pertinent to urban planning, and the enhancement of collaboration to develop urban policies that contribute to the creation of more sustainable and thriving cities. Both parties will also engage in the exchange of data and expertise to deliver innovative solutions that address the needs of the population.
