Ajman Municipality took part in the Mobility Live conference titled “The Future of Mobility and Transportation,” organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This event attracted a distinguished assembly of experts and specialists from across the globe. Throughout the conference, the Department showcased its accomplishments and outlined its future initiatives aimed at fostering integrated and sustainable mobility through infrastructure development, thereby improving the wellbeing and facilitating the advancement of modern cities.
During his presentation of a working paper titled “Cities with Multiple Modes of Transportation,” Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector at the Department, explained that Ajman Municipality is committed to enhancing flexibility and sustainability in urban design, aligning with the Emirate’s urban plan for 2040. He emphasized the Department’s goal of achieving integrated and sustainable mobility by developing infrastructure that facilitates the integration of public transportation, electric vehicles, pedestrian pathways, and cycling routes. He also highlighted the importance of improving road infrastructure to accommodate various mobility needs while promoting environmental sustainability.
Dr. Houria Ahmed Alblooshi, Planning Advisor for the Infrastructure Development Sector, also presented a working paper entitled “15-Minute Cities.” In her presentation, she discussed Ajman Municipality’s experience in implementing this concept, which aims to bring essential services closer to residents and improve overall wellbeing. She noted that the Department has adapted the concept to fit the unique characteristics of the Emirate of Ajman, emphasizing the importance of thoughtful and integrated infrastructure planning that supports sustainability.
Alongside the Conference, Ajman Municipality delegation took the opportunity to explore the latest technologies and intelligent solutions presented at the accompanying exhibition, which featured advanced mobility systems and smart infrastructure. Discussions were held regarding the potential to leverage these technologies for implementation within the Emirate, aiming to improve its preparedness for the future and facilitate comprehensive development.
Ajman Municipality’s involvement in this conference aligns with its strategy to share knowledge with prominent international and regional organizations in the transportation sector.
