Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA), chaired the meeting of the “Masfout Development Committee in Ajman” at his office.
During the meeting, the plan to organize the winter Masfout Breeze Festival was approved, a number of entertainment and cultural events were organized in the city, and a number of ambitious development projects were discussed to develop the local economy, and support creative residents in various economic, cultural and sports fields.
The meeting was attended by committee members, His Excellency Abdullah Mohammed bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, His Excellency Ghanem bin Mubarak Al Hajeri, Director General of the General Authority of Sports, His Excellency Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Youth, His Excellency Mohammed Khalifa Al Kaabi, Secretary General of the Emirates Council for Balanced Development, His Excellency Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Municipality and Urban Planning Department, His Excellency Mahmoud Khalil Al Hashemi, Director General of the Tourism Development Department in Ajman, His Excellency Engineer Yousef Al Ali – CEO of the Etihad Water & Electricity (EtihadWE), and a number of officials.
During the meeting, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi praised the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development Affairs and Martyrs’ Families, Chairman of the Emirates Council for Balanced Development, geared towards advancing comprehensive development plans, raising life quality levels and enhancing social stability for citizens and their families.
The MPDA’s Chairman said, “The past period has witnessed significant growth in development plans in the Masfout area, especially in the economic and tourism fields, and the committee is working to double efforts to achieve development and civilizational goals in the region, and enhance the cultural and recreational aspects for its residents.”
For his part, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq confirmed that “the committee is working on developing ambitious plans to improve life quality in Masfout, enhance family stability, and support economic aspects with diverse and innovative activities.”
His Excellency added, “Our goal is to support young energies and stimulate innovative projects, provide an opportunity for creators to display and market their production, and enable residents to invest in the natural, environmental and tourism components of Masfout.”
The meeting approved the launch of the throughout-winter Masfout Breeze Festival, which includes community, entertainment and cultural activities to enhance community participation and promote the Masfout Season. It also includes organizing sports and heritage tournaments and events, in addition to organizing health campaigns for residents.
The festival aims to revive Masfout’s cultural heritage, discover the beauty of the region’s nature, and involve residents in interactive activities that concern all family members, in addition to attracting visitors to the region, stimulating the local economy, and highlighting Masfout’s environmental and heritage components.
The festival’s activities include organizing photography competitions, hiking, football and mountain biking, in addition to competitions in popular and heritage games, archery and cultural events.
The meeting discussed a number of new projects to be implemented in Masfout, including developing farms to be holiday homes, establishing sustainable accommodation units, and establishing other projects in the long term, including a hotel and a camping resort and developing a mountain trail between Masfout and Hatta.
The meeting also discussed the (Masfout Accelerator) plan, which aims to empower local entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises and the local community to make Masfout self-sufficient in the fields of transportation, hospitality and tourism packages.
The meeting also discussed the project to establish a market for craftsmen, which aims to open new horizons for visitors to learn about the cultural heritage of the United Arab Emirates, and sell handicraft products of Emirati creators.
