The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) announced that its qualified competencies have passed the 3-month Space Applications for Earth Observation Course of the UAE Space Agency (UAESA), as one of the National Space Academy’s courses linked to the Space Data Center’s Geographical Analysis Platform.
In this connection, Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al-Muhairi, the MPDA’s Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector, voiced his pride in the ambitious cadres who are keen to hone skills and employ artificial intelligence in the fields of work and life, congratulating Abdullah Al-Suwaidi and Majid Ahmed Mawed from the Spatial Information Systems Department for passing the smart course.
The MPDA seeks to strengthen effective cooperation with the UAESA, which is interested in supporting the development of a generation of engineers specialized in space science and technology in the State, through myriad educational initiatives and world-class training programs supported by the UAESA in cooperation with partners and leading entities worldwide, Omair said, noting that the field of space today embodies the language of the current era and the title of excellence and competition.
The course enabled our resources to provide the basics of remote sensing, and harness practical opportunities to use AI technologies in practical space projects by designing space applications using space images and data, Omair explained, noting that the MPDA seeks to invest in national capabilities, empower and qualify competencies, and provide them with development opportunities.
He praised the course’s graduates who proved themselves and their distinct ability in the various lectures and projects they presented, along with their positive interaction and harnessing theoretical knowledge and sciences and employing programming algorithms and artificial intelligence in analyzing aerial and space images.
