The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) wrapped up its participation in the 12th Gulf Municipal Work (GMW) Conference, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and organized by the Ministry of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council over three days, in the presence of myriad municipal work concerned government officials and specialists.
His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the MPDA, topped the delegation participating in the conference. The MPDA was keen to participate in such an important conference to achieve sustainable development, discuss the latest developments and most prominent challenges related to the development and sustainability of municipal work and the desired ambitions in this vein, review the most outstanding successful experiences and provide innovative proposals in urban planning and design and its impact on improving life quality, His Excellency stressed.
His Excellency added that the MPDA diligently works to build bridges of constructive cooperation with all entities and institutions in the GCC countries, as it has managed to provide many achievements to advance the Emirate, serve the citizen and ensure comprehensive and integrated sustainability. It is still looking forward to acaccomplishing the best and raising life quality by adopting sustainable solutions and technologies and exchanging experiences and knowledge to develop municipal work and achieve integration among the authorities concerned.
Discussion Sessions
For his part, Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, the MPDA’s Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector, took part in a discussion session dubbed “Life Quality And Urban Standards” within the conference sessions. He reviewed the MPDA’s efforts and the most prominent development initiatives to reinforce the well-being of society, and the role of infrastructure projects in achieving the life quality strategic goals.
Research Papers
The MPDA’s qualified cadres showcased a host of research papers and case studies, where Aisha Al Tunaiji, Director of the Planning and Surveying Department, took part with a working paper themed “Future Jobs in Municipal Work – Opportunities and Challenges”
Suad Aldarra, Director of the Spatial Data Management and Development Department, presented a working paper on successful practices and field experiences in the sustainable municipal work area themed “The Geospatial System in Municipal Work”, discussing the climate change challenges in Gulf cities.
Mr. Ahmed Al-Rifai, Senior Engineer of Spatial Information Systems, took part in a case study themed “Improving Response to Natural Disasters and Curbing Their Risks in the City of Ajman.”
