His Excellency Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, was briefed on the progress of work in the Building Materials Laboratory, which handled 22,243 requests in 2023, in line with the strategic goal of developing infrastructure.
This came during a field visit by His Excellency to the Laboratory, in which he was accompanied by Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Environment Public Health Sector, and a number of experts and specialists.
At the start of his visit, His Excellency praised the efforts of the professionals working in the Laboratory specialized in examining basic materials used in construction and engineering projects such as roads and buildings. The Building Materials Laboratory provides two basic services, namely the examining and conforming building materials with specifications and the on-site survey service. It also includes several laboratories, including a chemistry laboratory, soil laboratory, steel laboratory, asphalt laboratory, gravel laboratory, and ready-mixed concrete products laboratory.
His Excellency explained that the laboratory works to examine and control the quality of materials used in construction processes and to ensure their compliance with the required standard specifications, in order to achieve the sustainability of buildings and ensure that they meet customer requirements and expectations.
For his part, Eng. Abdullah Al-Tamimi, Director of the MPDA’s Central Laboratories Department, gave a detailed presentation to His Excellency about the current projects being worked on, as the laboratory adopted the Electronic Laboratory Management System (LIMS) project, so that all procedures are automated and linked with the electronic systems in the MPDA, including Ammar system, and accordingly, it will be completely dispensed with the paperwork. He said that customers will receive notifications, whether via e-mail or SMS, or by logging into the system, and will be able to view directly the location of the sample.
Eng. Al-Tamimi said that the system is interdependent with external systems at the local and federal levels, which will contribute to increasing productivity and reducing operating costs, thus qualifying the Building Materials Laboratory to become one of the national laboratories at the state level.
At the end of the visit, His Excellency directed the Laboratory cadre to move forward in the implementation of qualitative projects, the impact of which will be felt by every individual in society, and the desired goals will be achieved.
