Ajman Municipality Department participates in ‘Ajman: 15-minute city’ Working Paper at the Smart City Congress in Barcelona

 

Ajman Municipality and Planning Department participated in the working paper ‘Ajman: 15-minute city’, at the Smart City Congress in Barcelona, ​​Spain. The Department presented the initiative aimed at transforming the Emirate of Ajman into a sustainable city, and enhancing the wellbeing and community happiness strategy.

The Department was represented at the Congress by a delegation headed by Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector at the Department, and consisting of Dr. Houriya Al-Blooshi, Urban Planning Consultant, Eng. Alia Majlad Al-Shamsi, Head of the Urban Observatory Department, and Youssef Al Suwaidi, Head of the Urban Modernization Department. The participation is in line with the Department’s plan to raise the level of its international representation, and to enhance global participation in all international forums.

In this regard, Dr. Eng. bin Omair confirmed that the Department, under the direct guidance of His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department, and with the follow-up of H.E. Abdulrahman Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Department, is keen to enhance the institutional reputation of the Department, which was able to launch quality projects having tangible impact on every individual In society, and highlighting the ideal image of the Emirate of Ajman, which has become an event city that provides its residents with a comfortable life and wellbeing constituents, and attracts visitors, tourists and investors to provide an integrated environment and advanced infrastructure.

Bin Omair said.

For her part, Dr. Houriya Al-Blooshi talked about ‘Ajman: 15-minute city’ initiative, which enables the individual to reach all the vital facilities surrounding him within 15 minutes, to choose the appropriate means, which includes walking from the place or public transportation, in addition to bicycles and electric bicycles. “The initiative is consistent with the strategic outputs and directions of the Ajman 2040 Urban Plan, aimed at achieving sustainable development, as the concept is based on four pillars, namely proximity, diversity, density and location”, she indicated.
