The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) announced that 99.02% of food samples complied with food safety regulations in 2024, recording 8,658 food samples tested, in line with the strategic goal of enhancing food safety.
In this vein, Dr. Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the MPDA’s Public Health and Environment Sector, asserted that ensuring the health and safety of all is the MPDA’s most important target and key work priority. The MPDA is adopting ambitious plans in line with its goals desired to maintain the health and safety of all.
Hosani noted that the percentage achieved in food sample testing increased compared to the same period in 2023, which reached 98.65%, with 10,774 food samples tested. The launch of positive programs and projects focused on enhancing safety and health methodologies, in addition to awareness initiatives, training and qualification of inspectors, requiring establishments to provide a qualified food safety officer certified by the department in each food facility, and implementing approved food safety systems, all contributed to achieving the desired goal, he explained.
Dr. Al Hosani praised the efforts of the MPDA’s qualified cadres in the Food Laboratory, who work diligently to ensure that food items comply with the UAE’s approved specifications and regulations. Throughout the year, the MPDA organizes specialized sessions for the economic activity sectors affiliated with public health, aiming to cement joint cooperation with regulatory and oversight bodies across the State in public health and food safety.
Al Hosani noted that the MPDA seeks to engage the community in all vital sectors, with the aim to give them the opportunity to provide feedback and improvement ideas. It also receives all complaints related to food and healthcare facilities through smart applications. Our goal is the community and providing all the elements of well-being and safety for all.
