Ajman Municipality Completes two AED 6 million Pedestrian Bridges

The Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman announced the completion of two AED 6 million pedestrian bridges. The first bridge is situated near Al Rawda intersection, while the second spans the intersection of Sheikh Ammar Street and Al Andalus Street. This project aligns with the strategic goal of developing integrated infrastructure.

In this context, Eng. Abdullah Mustafa Al Marzouqi, the Director of the Roads and Infrastructure Department, stated that these pedestrian bridges have been constructed in key locations that experience constant and heavy traffic, ensuring safe passage for pedestrians. The first bridge measures 37 meters in length and 4 meters in width, while the second bridge extends 57 meters in length and also has a width of 4 meters across both sides of the street. With these additions, the total number of pedestrian bridges in the Emirate has now reached 14.

Eng. Al Marzouqi further emphasized the Department’s commitment to improving road safety and reducing traffic accidents to achieve a goal of zero fatalities. This is being accomplished through the provision of integrated infrastructure and safe transportation options for both road and bicycle users, thereby enhancing the overall quality of life in the Emirate.

He also noted that the teams involved in the construction of the two bridges adhered to the highest international standards for traffic safety, while also considering aesthetic and creative elements in their design, including adequate lighting.

The Department calls upon both residents and visitors to utilize the designated pedestrian bridges for safe road crossing and reminds drivers to observe speed limits and reduce speed at pedestrian crossings to ensure the safety of all individuals.
