In celebration of the Emirati Women’s Day… MPDA launches Poetesses Skeek on the Heritage Trail

Rashid bin Humaid praises inspiring poetesses with an indelible mark left

 

The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) launched the Poetesses Skeek on the Heritage Trail in the emirate, in celebration of Emirati Women’s Day, which falls on August 28th every year.

 

In this vein, His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the MPDA, confirmed that the initiative is an extension of Poets Skeek, which was launched by the MPDA to highlight Ajman’s position as a source of poetry and poets and an embodiment of the literary legacy in the emirate of civilization and talent embracement.

 

Literary Legacy

His Highness said that the MPDA decided to launch the initiative on Emirati Women’s Day to emphasize their significant role in various fields, as they have left an indelible mark and impact and have been able to represent the positive image of the United Arab Emirates, and have gained a prestigious position in various fields.

 

The inspiring poetesses who grew up in the Emirate of Ajman were able to compose poems on various events and occasions and became famous for their rhetoric, poetry and literature, His Highness noted, voicing his pride in a valuable heritage passed down through generations and narrating stories about ancestors, and the crafts and professions that the emirate is known for, and reminding the younger generations of the authentic and distinct identity of Ajman.

 

In commemoration of the inspiring poetesses of Ajman

For his part, Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the MPDA’s Infrastructure Development Sector, said that the initiative gained great support from His Highness the MPDA’s Chairman, and the follow-up of His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Nuaimi, the MPDA’s Director General, to enable young female talents to carry out the Poetesses Skeek, starting from the investigation, scrutiny and documentation stage, through the stage of choosing the trail combining heritage, authenticity and the history of the emirate to be adorned with the names of the poetesses who composed their poems about the homeland, heritage, customs, traditions, origin and antiquity, and were distinguished by qualitative vocabulary that mimic the local environment.

 

The Skeek bears their names in appreciation and commemoration of their personalities and poems distinguished by eloquence, fluency and beautiful vocabulary, he added.
