MPDA signs award contracts with AIMS to develop As-Salam and Sheikh Zayed Corridors for AED 101 million

The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) has signed contracts awarding the As-Salam Corridor Improvement Project and the Sheikh Zayed Corridor Development Project with the AIMS Group, at a cost of 101 million dirhams, in line with the strategic goal of improving an integrated infrastructure and enhancing the interconnection between among its and residential communities, and within the updated strategic plan for the Emirate’s infrastructure.

 

The contract was signed by His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director-General of MPDA, Mr. Ahmad Hassan Al-Foura, Executive Director of the AIMS Group, and a number of officials, project work teams, experts and specialists.

 

His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi said that the MPDA strives to achieve ceaseless improvement, and continues its overall development plans geared towards ensuring life quality and society happiness, launching integrated vital projects, the most important of which are infrastructure development projects aimed at ensuring traffic flow, raising service level, increasing corridor capacity and raising efficiency to ensure the access of residents and visitors to their desired destinations in a quick, safe and optimal manner.

 

His Excellency spoke about the As-Salam Corridor Improvement Project, which aims to expand from Al Mowaihat Roundabout to Ajman Ring Road to have 3 lanes in each direction, while developing the roundabout to have 3 lanes with the implementation of service roads and parking on both sides of the Corridor. The 13-month improvement project will cost 48 million dirhams, and aims to improve traffic movement in the Ajman Industrial Area and Al Mowaihat Area by linking it to Sheikh Zayed Corridor and Ajman Ring Road, His Excellency added.

 

His Excellency went on saying that As-Salam Corridor is vital and witnesses traffic around the clock, noting that the improvement project includes the completion of all lighting works and the rainwater drainage network as part of the efforts exerted to cement full readiness to deal with emergency and exceptional cases.

 

His Excellency said that the MPDa decided to award a contract to develop Sheikh Zayed Corridor, located in the Al Helio area, to expand it from its intersection with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road until its intersection with Ajman Border Road, with a length of 3 kilometers, to have 3 lanes in each direction, in addition to implementing service roads and parking lots on both sides of the Corridor.

 

His Excellency added that the improvement project costs 53 million dirhams and will take 12 months, including organizing intersections with traffic lights and free U-turns. It also includes the completion of all lighting works, the rainwater drainage network, and the protection of services within the project area.
