Receives 3470 Sacrifices during Eid al-Adha

The central slaughterhouse of the Municipality & Planning Department - Ajman in Ajman (MPDA) announced the receipt of 3470 sacrifices during Eid al-Adha, including 3353 goats and sheep, and 104 cows as well as 13 camels.

Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, confirmed that the central slaughterhouse was quite active during the holy Eid days, where the workers received sacrifices during the working hours within the morning and evening periods. They received the sacrifices that were examined and checked carefully and thoroughly by veterinarians to ensure that they are safe and free from diseases, to determine its validity for human consumption, to exclude the improper ones, to give the sacrifice the designation of the owner, and to put them in the barns by type in preparation for slaughter in the hall intended for the process in order to place seals of Its validity. The sacrifices are delivered to the customer in environmentally friendly bags.

His Excellency pointed out that the slaughterhouse witnessed a large turnout of the people who came to slaughter the sacrifices in the slaughterhouse. All cases were met, and veterinarians, supervisors and workers received the sacrifices to ensure that sacrifices were fit for slaughter and ready for use. The veterinarians examined the sacrifices before and after the slaughter to ensure its safety in order to protect the health of consumers. Qualified groups dealt properly with sacrifices starting from its receipt until completing its slaughter.

His Excellency also pointed out that the modern equipment and advanced technologies available in the slaughterhouse have accelerated the slaughter processes and have saved a lot of time. The department, under the direct guidance of His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Head of the Department, is constantly improving the slaughterhouse and bringing the latest equipment and mechanisms that develop the work in the slaughter house and meet its demands, especially at the peak time witnessed by Eid al-Adha.

His excellency also said that the Department cooperated with external bodies to make it easier for people who came to the slaughterhouse in the Eid al-Adha to organize the round-the-clock work, as it cooperated with AIMS Company to periodically dispose of the waste due to increased productivity in addition to coordination with Ajman police to regulate the traffic of cars inside and outside the slaughterhouse. Also, it coordinated with the Civil Defence in order to protect all.

Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector of the Department, said that the department did not record cases of slaughter outside the slaughterhouse, which reflects the great awareness of the population and demonstrates the confidence in the services provided by the slaughterhouse that follows the higher standards of global health and safety. The slaughterhouse follows the environmental protection system in all aspects of its work, where blood resulting from bleeding is removed after slaughtering from the sewerage system and collected inside a ground tank to be pumped into a special tank outside the slaughterhouse as well as the proper methods followed for disposal of meat that is not suitable for consumption. The veterinarians supervise that disposal process. Additionally, large amounts of detergents and disinfectants are used in the disinfection operations after completing the work.

Al-Husani explained that the people who came to the slaughterhouse during the Eid al-Adha had praised the remarkable interest, the concern of the health and safety of the individuals and provision of all the necessary resources. The department established a permanent sunshade for the sheep reception area to protect the workers and employees from the heat of the sun, and supplied the area with desert coolers to reduce the temperature.
